Digital Time-Delay-Integration Technique for Medical Infrared Imaging System
Abstract
A digital-time-delay integration technique is proposed for the signal-to-noise ratio improvement in the medical infrared imaging system. Since the proposed technique integrates the imaging signal after the digitization of the signal, it
compresses
both
detector and pre-amplifier noises. Therefore, the proposed technique has better performance than the conventional analog time-delay-integration technique. The proposed technique was implemented using a single-chip digital signal processor. We
have
tested the implemented system using a home-made infrared imaging system. The experimental signal-to-noise ratio improvement by the proposed technique almost reach the theoretical limit of m1/2 where m is the number of detector elements.
